The feature presentation will be much longer, and I promise it will have no title cards whatsoever (aside from opening and closing credits, of course). These were the only spoiler-free clips I had, so they needed a little padding to stretch the trailer. So now Mom and Dad know why I've been holed up in my room for so long. And why said room smells of sharpies. (It's a good alibi, at the very least.) Stay tuned, and we'll see you in a week!

Scarily Awesome

As of today, the racing season is officially over at Laguna Seca. As part of this last event, the souvenir store put on an Oktoberfest complete with pumpkin carving contest, judged by race spectators. Not one to pass up a perfectly good opportunity to win engage in friendly competition, I entered with a carving of a racecar going down the Corkscrew (Laguna Seca's signature curve), with an outline of the entire track framing the two. Below is a shot of the pumpkin at night, taken just after I finished carving it.

So how did I do in the contest? I came in second. To my mother.

Today's Archaeology News

Recent excavations in what scientists believe to be a storage chamber of some sort have revealed primitive cave paintings, the likes of which have not been seen for many years. Radiographite dating has placed the artifacts at anywhere between 5110 and 5840 days old, making them among the earliest relics of a bygone age. Sadly, the following pictures are all that remain of these priceless etchings, as they were destroyed shortly after in an unfortunate painting incident. Researchers using these photos to determine the etchings' original meaning remain baffled, though theories abound. "They had to have been done by a child, or at least someone with a similar lack of coordination," said one researcher. "I mean, the scrawl is just so bad." Anthropologists associated with the project remain hopeful that, unlike the now-lost etchings themselves, the meaning behind the ancient drawings will be preserved for the ages.

Happy birthday Emily and Ariel!
