I'm Famous!
Daybreak is the island version of the Today Show, though on a somewhat smaller production budget. I wasn't originally scheduled to do this spot, but one of Courtney's meetings got moved around and she couldn't stick around for the whole thing. They said I would do fine, though, and that I wouldn't have to speak at all...
Canada, Part Three
After Halifax, Channing and I flew back to Toronto early June 5th. While Channing was to stay in Canada for a few more days, I had to leave the following day and get back to work. We spent the remainder of the day touring around Toronto, which really is a beautiful city.
First off, we headed over to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Yup. We had been watching the Stanley Cup Finals all vacation, and the night before was the deciding game between the Redwings and the Penguins. That meant when we saw where Lord Stanley's Cup is kept, we only got to see its stand-in instead. Oh well.
Even though I don't know nearly as much about hockey as Channing does, the museum was still pretty interesting. They had all sorts of memorabilia from the very start of the NHL to today. One of the neatest parts was actually the ceiling in the room where the cup is kept. Figures I would be more interested in the architecture....
After the museum we walked all over the city - and I mean ALL OVER. We saw Kensington Market, Chinatown, the Financial District, the Eaton Center, City Hall, and practically everything in between. My favorite was The Path, an underground network of stores, walkways and tunnels under the city - basically making Toronto a double-decker city. This makes great sense considering what winter looks like up there, but navigation proved difficult at times. Channing claimed it was because he couldn't see the sun, but I seem to recall some map-reading problems as well.
Last on the list of features to see was the CN Tower. Up until a few years ago it was the tallest building in the world, though to tell the truth it's still pretty tall. Even still, it's no match for... CHANNINGZILLA!!!
Unfortunately it was a bit foggy that day, so we weren't able to see Niagara Falls or anything (apparently you can sometimes see it from the tower). We saw most of the city though, and it was pretty awesome.
A portion of the tower has a glass floor that you can walk on, with a view 1122 feet down. Working on a glass bottom boat (and cleaning said window daily) has gotten me rather used to walking on glass floors, so I jumped right in. That's the approximate moment I found out that Channing doesn't really like heights. Not only did he refuse to join me, he only let me take two pictures before finally freaking out and grabbing me off the glass. It was kinda cute.
After a long day of traveling from Halifax and wandering all over Toronto, we joined Channing's stepmom and stepbrother for one final dinner at an Indian restaurant before calling it a night.
